One of my favorite spots to hang out and grab a beer is Gordon Biersch. I have a ton of history with GB – Craig and I once got nailed trying to “borrow” one of their cool glasses from the SF brewery, I gave golf lessons to Dean Biersch, the guy who was “The Money” behind their startup gave me one of the first cases of bottled Marzen off the line, and Dana and I ate dinner their on our first date and the night we got engaged -- and I genuinely love their Marzen, quite possibly my favorite beer of beers. So, when they opened one hear about 18 months ago, I was pretty stoked. (Also, equal parts shocked, as GB usually picks way more high profile locations like San Fran, Honolulu, Vegas, Pasadena, etc.)
So we joined their Stein Club a few months ago. This cost like $50 and earns you rewards points (I've already cashed in enough for one $75 gift card and am scant points away from another!) gives you a *slightly* bigger glass of beer (and I mean S-L-I-G-H-T-L-Y bigger, like at a possibly molecular level) and saves you a whopping $1 on Tuesdays. But, the coolest thing about being a Steinbrenner is that they invite you out every time they are tapping a new beer. In addition to some live music and some free apps you also get two free beers, so after about 6 tapping parties, the Stein Club starts paying for itself!
Last night they tapped the Sommerbrau, a light summer style ale with hints of citrus. So we packed the crew into the RAV4 and headed out to GB for some quality drinking last night. Here’s some photos.
