I'm not THAT John Sciacca

Occasionally I like to let you into my little world of analytics and share interesting digital breadcrumbs and tidbits that I uncover. Recently someone found my site from Wikipedia after I was added as a reference. (I’d like to add that I am also here for all of your term paper and doctoral thesis reference needs. Seriously, cite me for something. It’d be awesome!)  Then there are all of the people that find me from searching about silenced weapons or 3D being ...

Big Event TV screen size math

Like many of you, I’m watching the Super Bowl right now. Honestly, I’m not so interested in the game – this will be the first game I’ve actually watched this year – but more so into the pomp and circumstance of the event: the pre-game jet flyovers (what, no B2 Spirit this year, Dallas? I thought everything was bigger there? And did anyone else think that Xtina was looking a little puffy? Her voice still sounded great, but she needs to go back to be...

NY Times: Remote Control Tech WAY Behind the times

After 41 years of walking this earth, I’ve come to learn a few things about myself. Deep, soul searching things that come to define the man that I am today. Things like the knowledge that rapidly cramming down a ton of Taco Bell and hot sauce packets immediately before rushing off to do something physical results in bad – wicked bad -- juju. Gordon Biersch released a new brew the other night, which meant another Passport tasting event which meant we ended up going to GB for two nights in a row! (We were there on Monday following out Tangled outing and then our favorite waitress – also named Lauren – told us about the event the following night. It was a prom theme and she said all the servers would be in prom attire; including the men. Lauryn loved the sound of it, so the game was afoot!) But before I di...

Quick Take 2: The last 10 movies I've watched

We’ve been on a movie watching terror lately, and have hit a really solid patch in our Netflix queue. (For non-Netflix subscribers, you won’t know that lulls and sadness that comes when you forget to update your queue for a while and then you get movie after movie, day after day or these old, B-rate titles. Sure, when you tossed them into your queue, you were thinking, “Oh, I’ll never get to this. I’ll just add this in there and keep putting better...

Tron: Irony, Fatigue and Dislike in the Third Dimension

Posted on February 2, 2011 at 5:19 PM Comments comments (1)

For a number of reasons (OK, that exact number of reasons is three. 1) The inconvenience; it is difficult to just run out and see a movie with Lauryn. Also, our schedule is very fluid. There are times when we’ll start a movie at 9:13 other times at 9:58; to have to conform to some schedule set by “The Man” because he thinks shows should start at a specific time is often tough. And if I miss that "let's go out to the lobby, let's go out to the lobby..." jingle,...
