The Force: The Darker, the better!
Posted on March 31, 2010 at 6:03 PM |
I'm working on a story for occasional-visitor, frequent-commentor, Rob Medich, where he wants me to interview someone in the video gaming industry about how to get a job as a gamer. So, I reached out to my friends (that's how I like to consider them; they would probably refer to me as "that guy that keeps bugging us to come out for another visit. I mean, really! Isn't four times to Lucas Ranch enough?!" And no, it isn't!) at Lucas Arts, the gaming, still somewhat powerful and cool arm of George. So I asked if I could speak with Haden Blackman, the creator of the very cool "Force Unleashed" videogame that I did a feature story on .
So, the PR guy gets back to me and tells me that Haden would love to do it, but he's really tied up for the next few months working on...."The Force Unleashed II." Sweet!
So I did a little Googling and found this trailer to the game.
Click Here for the game's home page where you can select a trailer video in either low-res or HD.

Why is the Dark Side SO much more bad ass? Force lightning pew-pew!

This analogy is geographic specific for John's sake, so please allow me to set the scene. Fireworks are LEGAL in S. Carolina. Not the 'Safe and Sane' pittances that they sell in select areas of California. No. These are industrial grade, professional pyrotechnics. This, in my opinion, is S.C.'s greatest draw for tourists- not the golf. I digress, back to the analogy:
It is true that the Dark Side has great strength. It appears to have many superior strengths. But it doesn't last. It is like throwing a Molotav Coctail in one of those beautiful fireworks stores. Oh yeah, it will be impressive for sure. But how long will it last? Six or seven hours at most.(This is assuming that only ONE fireworks store is ablaze at a time. This is also assuming that some Ignoramus from CA didn't just visit his friend and light off some Mortars on a windy day and set ablaze a set of Townhouses with wood shingle walls and roof!)
We have examples of such that embraced the Dark Side: Vader, Maul, Palpatine and Dookoo.
What about the Light Side? They are in it for the long haul. They are the ones that visit the Fireworks store and make a purchase. They go the beach, light off some Bottle Rockets, Mortars, Screaming Mimi's, etc. A crowd will appear. These are mostly visitors from CA and other rational states that outlawed fireworks decades ago. These people will be impressed, they will Ooh and Ahh. Here's the difference. The Light Side can keep on doing this. It is perpetual like Yoda, Luke or Obi Wan.
I hope that this clears up the confusion.

Dan
Can I just burn down the fireworks store in a giant blaze of Dark Side energy and then repent on my death bed and go on perpetually like Anakin?
