MORTALLLL KOMBAAAAAT!!!

Posted on June 11, 2010 at 11:21 AM

OK. Deep breaths. Heart rate slowing down...

Imagine... What if they remade the Mortal Kombat movies with a serious, gritty, and real edge. Imagine Dark Knight meets a less grisly Saw meets AWESOME!

If they took all the characters and shed them off their silly little throw-away one-liners and made them dark and twisted and then stuck them in a psychotic infested metropolis and kept poking and antagonizing them until they had no choice but to fight it out.

Just saw the new teaser trailer for the reboot of the Mortal Kombat movie franchise and it looks SWEET! (By "sweet" I mean that this is a movie that I'll totally NOT be watching with Dana and will probably have to wait until I am reunited with Dan and Pierre to *fully* appreciate!)

Now, imagine that I am about to share this new trailer with you. All 7 minutes and 49 seconds of it! I'd say "enjoy!" but I know I don't have to! Flawless victory!

This is just a test film to see if a hard reboot of the franchise would work. no feature is currently in production.

Sadly, Yap Tsung is correct. Here is some more info: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0293429/news#ni2841368
Totally ballsy move to make this film as basically a resume for wanting to get the directorial job. Shot in 2 days on a budget of $7500. Hope it gets made; this looks like the best video game movie adaptation EVER!
